Described as the one of the hottest shows staged internationally (25 countries), It has won 6 Oscars.
John Kander – Fred Ebb – Bob Fosse, creators of the highly creative show, describe the show in the opening song as "a story of murder, greed, corruption, violence, exploitation, adultery and treachery – all those things we hold near and dear to our hearts"  It would be I suppose, given the songs, jibe at the American judicial system. The songs are rooted in America's great legacy to musical theatre complete with Jazz music played by a pit band.

The story
Based on a true story, Chicago tells the story of Roxie Hart, a nightclub singer who dreams of headlining in Vaudeville, She is tired of playing sleazy joints and only when she murders her lover does she achieve celebrity status.  She enlists the help of Chicago's shrewdest lawyer - a real smooth talker - to incite massive publicity surrounding the case.  She has an interesting time in the cell block with great songs like 'Cell Block Tango' and 'Razzle Dazzle'. There are some interesting conversation with the lawyer to ensure her acquittal. The story continues......
