Marguerite is inspired from
one of the greatest of romantic novels,' La Dame aux Camelias'
by Alexandre Dumas. Story This Second World War love story takes place in Paris , Marguerite is the beautiful and notorious mistress of a high ranking German officer. Her love affair with Armand who is a young musician half her age, starts when he falls in love with her and his attentions soon become passionate - even obsessive. Their relationship progresses in a background of Occupied Paris. Wrought with danger, the passion seems to override it.... The nostagia in the play shows the added pressure of the fear generated by the Nazi police state. Cast Ruthie Henshall stars in the title role, Julian Ovenden as Armand and Alexander Hanson as Otto. Production Marguerite is a collaboration between Alain Boublil and Claude-Michel Schonberg (Les Miserables, Miss Saigon and Martin Guerre) and the Oscar award-winning musical legend Michel Legrand and lyricist Herbert Kretzmer (Les Miserables). Les Miserables fans have another collaboration between Michel legrande and Claude-Michel Schonberg to delight them. Music - arrangements - Seann Alderking; Director - Jonathan Kent; Design - Paul Brown; Sound - Paul Groothuis: Lighting - Mark Henderson |
