The musical opened on Broadway in November 2005 and appeared in the West End at the Prince Edward Theatre in February 2008. The same creative team that brought the production to Broadway were used for the London debut. This show is a great to go to because of the songs and the music and the nostalgia about the 60s is very well handled by the cast who live the dream convincingly.

The story
The real boys from Jersey (New Jersey that is - the one in USA) became ' Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons' after various other names including the Four lovers.  They were responsible for huge worldwide hits such as 'Big Girls Don't Cry' , 'Rag Doll' and their first hit  'Sherry'.  The story is about the making of the rock and roll band and the songs with the usual interactions with music business debacles and imbroglios in their own lives.

Frankie, born in the 30's as Castelluccio rose from a childhood of poverty through various attempts at crime and joined up with two neighbourhood friends (Tommy De Vito and Nick Massi)  to start 'the Variety Trio'. A few years later they picked up an organist Bob Gaudio who wrote songs  - many of which were covered by other p
opular artists. Their great songs held them in the charts throughout band changes and label changes.

The Four Seasons were one of America's biggest groups topping the singles and album charts before 'beatlemania' took over the top positions.  Nonetheless their popularity has since been continual worldwide. Bob and Frankie still perform though the other survivor from the original Four Seasons Tommy having taken up gambling with thugs fell by the wayside.
